Drabble Wars, Summer is Here!

The month of June kicks off the summer break, and in celebration of this season, June's Drabble Wars will have a theme for you to write about!

Introducing this month's theme....

That's right! We want to celebrate this great season and we want YOU to write about it!

Road trips, backpacking, traveling, anything goes, just take your characters out of their hometown and have them explore the world! You can write about going to the beach, visiting new cities, visiting your hometown, climbing mountains, riding a train, getting on airplanes, anything goes... as long as you write about traveling during the summer.

We cannot wait to read what you guys come up with. If you have any questions, drop us a comment below or visit the Drabble Wars Forum on Facebook. Anna, Michaela and/or Mina will be more than happy to help.

Now go and write! We will be keeping you all posted here on who takes on the challenge.

May Drabble Warrior Interview V

Hola Drabble Lovers!

We are just minutes away for the next war to begin and we are pretty excited about this month's participants This month we have a five amazing authors and we are pretty excited for you to read their stories! So, let's get to meet the first one, shall we?

These questions were submitted by member of the Drabble War Forum on facebook. Thanks to everyone that submitted a question, we wish we could ask all of the questions you guys posted, but unfortunately we can't.

Thank you for submitting and I hope you come back with more questions for the next month's drabble. If you have a question you would like to ask a future warrior, pop in the group and leave a post.

So, let's meet the next warrior participating in this month's battle of the words, she is writing for a different fandom this time around, give it up for... Mina Rivera!

1. What your favorite genre to read/write fanfiction?

I can read any genre as long as there is small dose of romance in the story. I have read from the scariest of thriller, to the most sappy romcom. I don't have a preference at all. To write, like I said, romance is gonna be a fixure in everything I write, haven't stretched out of the AH zone yet, but maybe in the futere. We'll see...

2. What made you take that first 'step' and write fanfiction?

No idea, really. I had been reading for a while and I just thought I'd give it a shot, I was completely clueless and had no idea what the hell I was doing, but it felt wonderful. The most I have written before was a children's book in Spanish, so I guess you could say I started writing to practice and improve my english.

3. Are you a one fandom only author/reader? If you are, would you be willing to read/write for another fandom? If you aren't, what other fandoms have you read and/or wrote for?

I have read several fandoms, including crossovers. I have read Harry Potter, Vampire Academy, Hunger Games, Twilight, and a few Code Geass fanfiction. I have written for both Twilight and Vampire Academy so far, but I'll see if I write in a different fandom soon... maybe Hunger Games. I have no plans as of yet, I still haven't gotten bitten by a Hunger Games plot bunny, but the idea is my head, mostly thanks to my friend Ro.

4. What is your writing process for drabbles? Does it differ from full length fics?

Honestly, for me it's easier to write shorter chapters, but I tend to drag the story a bit, which is not cool. I try my best and I hope this month's drabble will be pleasing for everyone.

5. Where do you take inspiration for your stories? Music lyrics? Movies? Real life?

Different things, could be the lyrics of a song I liked, a moment in a tv show I watch, or maybe even something that happened to me in real life. Honestly, the characters are the one that come up with everything, I'm just they medium they have to express themselves ;)

6. How do you get into the mood for writing? Where do you write? (paper, laptop, napkin, post it)

Anywhere, everywhere. The mood strikes, I write. It's hard to make time when you are in school and have a job, so I try to make the best of it on my free time, but sometimes the mood isn't right, so I either re-read what I have written to get into the mood or just make a banner.

7. Is there any thing that helps to get you into the characters mind to write them?

Mmm... I'm a little OCD, so I have these docs in my laptop with descriptions of each characters: their personalities, jobs, family, etc. When I'm trying to write a certain character I always go to these docs to get into their mind.

8. How do you come up with the title for your story?

Sometimes the theme of the story is clear, other times I use a line from the lyrics of a song or the dialogue of a movie. It really all depends on what I'm writing.

9. If you could be a part of any of your stories which one would it be and why?

Oh gawd... I would say my January Drabble War entry, becasue I would love to go to Paris and have Madame Esme help me find the man of my dreams ;)

10. Do you have a beta? If you do, what do expect from them? If you don't, why not?

I do. It's a must for me. I'm not comfortable without one, mainly becasue English is not my first language and I need another set of eyes to catch all the possible atrocities I had committed against the language! LOL

What do I expect from my beta? the honest and brutal truth, otherwise, how will I learn? They are here to help us improve and evolve as writers, the least I can do is take every criticism like a grain of salt.

11. Tell us about your Drabble War Entry: Fandom, Title, Category, Pairing, Summary. What is it about? What can we expect from it?

COME BACK TO ME

Category: All Human. Angst/Romance.
Rated: M for langue and lemons
Fandom: Vampire Academy
Pairing: Rose/Dimitri

Summary: They lived a fairytale and found their happily ever after, but in real life there are always more obstacles to overcome. One tragic event will put their love to the test on their road to forever.

This story was born after watching the first season of Once Upon a Time (great show, love it!) when you read it, you will know why. I has nothing of fantasy or the likes, just pure angst. This is my first foray into this genre and I'm pretty excited to see if I can make my readers cry! LOL

12. Have you participated in a DW before? If you have, what have you gained from the experience? And if you haven't, will you do it again after this one?

I have, and it has been an interesting experience. Certainly very useful when trying to get rid of those pesky little plot bunnies that refuse to let you focus on the story you are supposed to be writing! LOL I definitely see myself doing this again.

Thanks to Mina for answering all the questions. Don't forget to put her on alerts and be brave enough to try a different fandom with her drabble.

Be sure to leave her some love in a review if you read her drabble... and remember the golden rule: If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. These authors are providing FREE entertainment for you... appreciate it!

May Drabble Warrior Interview IV

Hola Drabble Lovers!

We are just two days away for the next war to begin and we are pretty excited about this month's participants This month we have a five amazing authors and we are pretty excited for you to read their stories!

So, let's meet the next warrior participating in this month's battle of the words, she is popping her drabble cherry with us, go give up for... Lost In Fanfiction!

1. What your favorite genre to read/write fanfiction?

I've read just about every genre, but I prefer romance, humor, drama and some angst.

2. What made you take that first 'step' and write fanfiction?

I had an idea and felt compelled to write it.  Also, I have had the support of many wonderful authors and readers.  That always helps.

3. Are you a one fandom only author/reader? If you are, would you be willing to read/write for another fandom? If you aren't, what other fandoms have you read and/or wrote for?

I'm a Twilight fandom girl.

4. What is your writing process for drabbles? Does it differ from full length fics?

This is my first drabble.  I wrote it like a OS.  Full length fics, for the most part, are mapped out by chapter.

5. Where do you take inspiration for your stories? Music lyrics? Movies? Real life?

Definitely real life.

6. How do you get into the mood for writing? Where do you write? (paper, laptop, napkin, post it)

I do my best thinking in the shower or while I'm driving long distances.  I can map out a whole chapter in one shower, but I have to write it down right away or I lose it.

7. Is there anything that helps to get you into the characters mind to write them?

I'm in their head while I'm writing.  If I can't accomplish that on a given day, I don't write.

8. How do you come up with the title for your story?

It's usually based on an underlying theme in the story.

9. If you could be a part of any of your stories which one would it be and why?

Probably Liz in the Most Eligible Bachelor.  It would be fun to be a contestant on a dating reality show, but not have my heart on the line.

10. Do you have a beta? If you do, what do expect from them? If you don't, why not?

Yes, I've had a few amazing beta's.  In the beginning I needed encouragement and suggestions.  Now that I've got a few stories under my belt I want to be challenged by my betas.  I want to improve my writing.

11. Tell us about your Drabble War Entry: Fandom, Title, Category, Pairing, Summary. What is it about? What can we expect from it?

LOVE 'HURTS'

Fandom: Twilight

Pairing: Edward/Bella

Category: Romance/Humore

Summary: Edward takes the phrase "Love Hurts" to a new level when he attempts
to get ready to join the dating world again.

Love 'Hurts' is a Twilight ff with Edward and Bella. I originally imagined it as a crack fic, but it evolved into something a little deeper. Edward goes to some extreme measures to get ready to go out in the dating world again. I don't want to give too much away, but my pre-reader said I may want to give some warnings about not drinking while reading this story!

12. Have you participated in a DW before? If you have, what have you gained from the experience? And if you haven't, will you do it again after this one?

This is my first Drabble War and drabble story.  The timing was just right for this war.  I never know when I'm going to have something ready.  I've always admired authors who challenge themselves with things like this and contests.  I can see myself doing this again.

Thanks to Lost for answering all the questions. Don't forget to put her on alerts so you don't miss out on what it looks like is going to be a very funny drabble.

Be sure to leave her some love in a review if you read her drabble... and remember the golden rule: If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. These authors are providing FREE entertainment for you... appreciate it!

1. What your favorite genre to read/write fanfiction?

I love to read almost anything, but my favorite is horror/gore and to write is syfy. I love to bend the box.

2. What made you take that first 'step' and write fanfiction?

Encouraging friends in the fandom.

3. Are you a one fandom only author/reader? If you are, would you be willing to read/write for another fandom? If you aren't, what other fandoms have you read and/or wrote for?

Only one, I read a lot but I have only found Twi to be inspiring or the characters talked to me. Does this make me sound crazy?

4. What is your writing process for drabbles? Does it differ from full length fics?

I drink and smoke and get the tablet out to write. That's about it. ha.

5. Where do you take inspiration for your stories? Music lyrics? Movies? Real life?

Images, music and just my brain being amazing by giving me rad ideas.

6. How do you get into the mood for writing? Where do you write? (paper, laptop, napkin, post it)

Refer to #4, rinse, repeat until I finish.

7. Is there anything that helps to get you into the characters mind to write them?

Rereading what I've written, no matter how long it is.

8. How do you come up with the title for your story?

Stared at some images for a while and pow, title.

9. If you could be a part of any of your stories which one would it be and why?

Anyone of my syfy.

10. Do you have a beta? If you do, what do expect from them? If you don't, why not?

I don't but I do have some help in a lovely prereader named Dawn. All I expected of her was honesty. Tell me how it is. Yell at me for my grammar mistakes, tell me my spelling is horrible and don't skimp on kicking my ass when I mess up.

11. Tell us about your Drabble War Entry: Fandom, Title, Category, Pairing, Summary. What is it about? What can we expect from it? (Please attach a link to your banner or you can upload the banner here in the group)

THE MANY SIGHTINGS OF HIM

Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Bella/Edward
Category: Family/Angst

Summary: I’ve seen him many times, but when recalling them all, I tell the story
of a crazy girl in love, with just as crazy of a guy. I was a sucker for ‘happily ever after’
and I got more than I bargained for.

The Many Sightings of Him, is about Bella stalking Edward. Anymore and I will ruin it. She writes down all of the sightings of him and this is her story.

12. Have you participated in a DW before? If you have, what have you gained from the experience? And if you haven't, will you do it again after this one?

I love DW, I need my own personal chair in here. I have gained a following, small but amazing. I have people who get mad at me for how my stories go, and the opposite effect. It’s amazing. I love being humbled to the point of blushing. No more ego boosts please, okay maybe a little more. -squee-

Thanks to Mona for answering all the questions. Don't forget to put her on alerts so you don't miss out on what it looks like is going to be a very interesting drabble.

Be sure to leave her some love in a review if you read her drabble... and remember the golden rule: If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. These authors are providing FREE entertainment for you... appreciate it!

May Drabble Warrior Interview II

Hello again Drabble Lovers!

We are just two days away for the next war to begin and we are pretty excited about this month's participants This month we have a five amazing authors and we are pretty excited for you to read their stories!

So, let's meet the next warrior participating in this month's battle of the words, she has never participated before, so give it up for... Mrs. Nina Cullen!

1. What your favorite genre to read/write fanfiction?
I will give anything a chance (almost) but I usually read Romance (or RomCom). With writing I usually do more Drama with romance.

2. What made you take that first 'step' and write fanfiction?  I always loved writing and as a young child would write out my thought of what I thought should happen in shows and movies. Then I learned (once I was much older) that I was writing FF and I learned about all the great people that love to read it and thought what the heck why not.

3. Are you a one fandom only author/reader? If you are, would you be willing to read/write for another fandom? If you aren't, what other fandoms have you read and/or wrote for?
I tend to stick with one fandom (Twilight) but have branched out to see what else is out there. I haven’t written for any but I have read some (Harry Potter, Once Upon a Time).

4. What is your writing process for drabbles? Does it differ from full length fics?  I take the same approach for most of my stories. I come up with an idea randomly and mostly like at inappropriate times lol. Then I try to get as far as I can with the story and plot in my head before writing. Most of the time I change the story about six times, by the time I’m done but oh well.

5. Where do you take inspiration for your stories? Music lyrics? Movies? Real life?  Everything. I can get an idea from a song then I’ll see a movie and that will light fire to the idea then someone will say something and BAM story done in my head. (Mostly.)

6. How do you get into the mood for writing? Where do you write? (paper, laptop, napkin, post it).
The mood strikes at any given time and I always carry paper and like a million pens and pencils in my bag. I love to not only write but draw so I find it best to always be ready when inspiration strikes.

7. Is there anything that helps to get you into the characters mind to write them?  Music. I put music on that fits the theme and mood of the story.

8. How do you come up with the title for your story?  I like to have most of the idea thought out first then I will pick a name that fits most of the story or at least the main point. Sometimes that’s the first thing I think of and ill write a story about the title.

9. If you could be a part of any of your stories which one would it be and why?  I think a little of me is in all of my stories but if I had to choose just one. Coffee Shop, I loved writing it and I still go back and read it. (must warn you I should go back and fix things but I’m being lazy.)

10. Do you have a beta? If you do, what do expect from them? If you don't, why not?  I don’t. I’ve had a hard time finding one I like. Most of the good ones are busy and I hate bothering people.

11. Tell us about your Drabble War Entry: Fandom, Title, Category, Pairing, Summary. What is it about? What can we expect from it? (Please attach a link to your banner or you can upload the banner here in the group)

LOST AND FOUND

Rated: M
Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Edward/Bella

Summary: He was surrounded by people yet he felt lost and alone.
She was lost and alone but doesn't know any other way.
Can these two finding each other make them happy?

I don’t want to give to much a way but I’ll give you something. Edward is living with the Cullen’s as the only single member of the family. He wants to leave and be on his own having the couples around is depressing. Then he finds a girl that is lost and alone. He helps her find who she is and well... Read and you shall see. :)

12. Have you participated in a DW before? If you have, what have you gained from the experience? And if you haven't, will you do it again after this one?
No but I’ve read almost all the entries that have been submitted before. I might if I have time. RL always gets in the way.

Thanks to Nina for answering all the questions. Don't forget to put her on alerts so you don't miss out on what it looks like is going to be an amazing drabble.

May Drabble Warrior Interview I

Hello again Drabble Lovers!

We are just two days away for the next war to begin and we are pretty excited about this month's participants This month we have a five amazing authors and we are pretty excited for you to read their stories!

So, let's meet the first warrior participating in this month's battle of the words, she has participated before and is now returning for another war, give it up for... Misfit Heartbreak!

1. What your favorite genre to read/write fanfiction?

I love to write romance and angst I think that when writing them it's more intense, and a lot realistic then any other genre. I love to read anything with a Darkward, Brokenward, or anything that "feels" real to me. I'm a very picky person when it comes to reading fanfiction it has to have a good plot and lemons in it, along with grammar, spelling, etc.

2. What made you take that first 'step' and write fanfiction?

After I read Twilight I all the sudden had a ideas for Bella and Edward what if she was this or what if this happened instead of this? I wrote over fifty pages in fanfiction alone, never posted any of it, instead I read fanfiction online and it went from there. After four years of reading I decided that I would finally attempt to write a fanfiction and that's how it happened.

3. Are you a one fandom only author/reader? If you are, would you be willing to read/write for another fandom? If you aren't, what other fandoms have you read and/or wrote for?

Nope, I've read pretty much anything I could get my hands on after I found out the FF.net didn't just have Maximum Ride on the site. I love to read Harry Potter slash, Lord of the rings, Maximum Ride, Hunger Games, True Blood, Twilight, X-Men, Percy Jackson, and Inuyasha.

I tried to write a Snarry and Drarry fic once *laughs while blushing* let's just say it sucked and I'll just let the professionals to their work.

4. What is your writing process for drabbles? Does it differ from full length fics?

I have never, ever wrote a long length story always stuck with drabble style, it looks so crammed and sloppy when it looks full length it bugs the hell out of me. I normally write a thousand words or less then pick where I'll end it for a chapter and go from there.

5. Where do you take inspiration for your stories? Music lyrics? Movies? Real life?

Everything, music is mostly where I get my ideas for my stories take WFLID for example before it was an original story I listened to "We Found Love" for a whole week and decided to write a Bella and Edward pairing based on my experience and the song.

6. How do you get into the mood for writing? Where do you write? (paper, laptop, napkin, post it)

My mood for writing is any mood it just hits me and I let my hands/fingers do the writing for me I have no control over it.

I normally start on paper then type it up but if I do that then it between the two something happens and the things I wrote on paper won't be typed it will be different.

7. Is there any thing that helps to get you into the characters mind to write them?

Not really sometimes they scream, cuss, and rant about how I NEED to put them into the stories , or I listen to the song that's based off the stories. Other then that no.

8. How do you come up with the title for your story?

I mix albums, songs, and band names together or randomly pick a word and combine them together.

9. If you could be a part of any of your stories which one would it be and why?

I would love to become Bella from my story The Dark Side of Love, she's trying to figure out what the "Game" is and also struggling to find herself in the process and that's what I'm doing for myself at the moment, plus I would love to have a Darkward any day in my life.

10. Do you have a beta? If you do, what do expect from them? If you don't, why not?

No I currently do not have a Beta, if I did have one I would expect them to take the time and get to know me as a reader and writer instead of just here you go edit and give back person, I hate that some people do that to their Beta's it makes me think what if you were treated like that, I bet you would like it.

11. Tell us about your Drabble War Entry: Fandom, Title, Category, Pairing, Summary. What is it about? What can we expect from it?

THE LAST NIGHT

Fandom: Twilight
Pairing: Bella/Sam
Rated: M

Warning: Dark Themes, Not a Happily ever after.

Summary: Bella is on the verge of breaking apart into a million pieces,
after all being in a abusive home isn't what anyone wants to live.

What can you expect from it? Well you will need a tissue and some moment's you will be cheering other times you will want to kill a person or two. It is very angsty, dark, and the ending will make you wonder why.

12. Have you participated in a DW before? If you have, what have you gained from the experience? And if you haven't, will you do it again after this one?

I have participated it last year in May and loved it, I met amazing people and gained a lot of information about writing a drabble.

Yes I will be doing it again every month it just depends on RL and if the evil plot bunnies are plotting.

Thanks to Misfit for answering all the questions. Don't forget to put her on alerts and better start stocking up on tissues, seems like you are gonna need them.

Be sure to leave her some love in a review if you read her drabble... and remember the golden rule: If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. These authors are providing FREE entertainment for you... appreciate it!
